"Truly, truly, I say to you, a slave is not greater than his master, nor is one who is sent greater than the one who sent him."

(John 13:16)

These words come shortly after Jesus did something shocking; He washed His disciples’ feet. The task of washing feet was reserved for the lowest servant, yet the Son of God had knelt down and took the posture of a servant. After finishing, He looked at His followers and gave them this powerful reminder: you are not above serving.

In a world that chases status and recognition, Jesus calls us to humility. The greatest in His kingdom are not those who rise to the top, but those who kneel to serve. If the Master served, how can the servant do any less?

Pride often plays a role in our downfall. We may have resisted help, thought we could manage life on our own, or struggled to admit our need. But overcoming our past mistakes begins with humility, and humility continues to shape us as we grow. Jesus isn’t calling us to a lesser life; He’s inviting us into a greater purpose, one that reflects His heart.

Healing comes when we begin to give of ourselves. We grow stronger when we help others grow. And we reflect Christ best when we take the low place, not because we’re weak, but because we’ve been made whole enough to serve.

Lord Jesus, thank You for showing me what true greatness looks like. Help me to walk in humility and take joy in serving others. Teach me to reflect Your love not just in words, but in action. Use my hands, my heart, and my story to bring hope to someone else. In Your name, Amen.

A Simple Cry of Faith

"And he was saying, ‘Jesus, remember me when you come into Your kingdom."

(Luke 23:42)

As Jesus hung on the cross, He was flanked by two criminals. They were two men with stories of failure, guilt, and regret. One mocked Him, still hardened in his heart. But the other, broken and humbled, looked at Jesus with eyes of faith and uttered a simple but powerful request: “Jesus, remember me.”

It’s not about what we’ve done, but what Christ has done. No matter how far we’ve fallen, Jesus responds to genuine faith.

This moment captures the heart of grace. This criminal had nothing to offer; there were no good deeds, no chance to make things right, no time to prove himself. Yet, in a single sentence, he demonstrated repentance, belief, and hope. He acknowledged who Jesus was, a King with a kingdom, and asked not to be forgotten, but to be included.

This cry is the essence of the gospel. It’s not about what we’ve done, but what Christ has done. No matter how far we’ve fallen, Jesus responds to genuine faith. The man’s past did not disqualify him. In fact, it made the grace of Christ shine even brighter. Jesus answered, “Truly I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.” (v. 43)

For anyone who is struggling with regret, pain, addiction, or any other biproduct of this broken world; let this verse serve as a reminder that it’s never too late to turn to Jesus. You don’t need to clean yourself up first. You don’t need to have all the answers. Like the thief on the cross, you just need to trust Him and ask...” Lord, remember me.” Rest assured, He will not let you go.

Are you willing to come to Jesus just as you are? What’s stopping you from making that simple but powerful request: “Lord, remember me”?

Jesus, thank You that even in Your suffering, You showed mercy. I come to You with nothing to offer but my faith that is given by You. Remember me, Lord. Receive me, redeem me, and help me walk in the new life You offer. In Your holy name, Amen.

Crucified with Christ

"I have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me."

(Galatians 2:20

This verse stands as a declaration of identity and transformation. Paul doesn’t say he is being changed; rather, he says he has been crucified with Christ. Something final has happened. His old self that was driven by pride, sin, and self-reliance has been nailed to the cross. And now, the life he lives is no longer fueled by human effort, but by the presence of Christ within him.

Our life with Him is not lived by trying harder, but by trusting deeper.

This truth lies at the core of the Christian life. When we surrender to Jesus, we don’t just add Him to our existing lives; we exchange our lives for His. That means our past no longer defines us. Our addiction, our shame, our failures; none of them have the final word. Christ alone has the final word.

Our verse today offers incredible hope. You are not who you once were. You have been crucified with Christ. The old has passed away, and the new has come. And this new life is lived by faith. Our life with Him is not lived by trying harder, but by trusting deeper. You are now empowered, not by your own strength, but by His Spirit living within you.

The intimate truth is that Jesus loved you and gave Himself for you. He didn’t just die for the world; He died for you. And now, He lives in you, guiding, sustaining, and transforming you from the inside out.

Are you still trying to live in your own strength, or are you living by faith in the One who gave Himself for you?

Jesus, thank You for loving me so deeply that You gave Yourself for me. Help me to live not in my old self, but in the new life You’ve given me. Let my faith in You shape every step I take. In Your name, Amen.
