"I have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me."
(Galatians 2:20)

When we surrender to Christ, something profound happens: we are no longer defined by who we were. The old life, with all its failures, regrets, and struggles, has been crucified with Christ. That doesn’t mean we forget our past, but it does mean we are no longer bound by it.
Paul reminds us that we are not just trying to be “better” versions of ourselves. We are made new. The person we were before Christ, the one weighed down by sin, shame, and self-reliance, is gone. Now, Christ lives in us.
This doesn’t mean life is suddenly easy. We still live in the flesh, still face struggles, and still have days where we feel weak. But we no longer have to fight alone. We live by faith. We rely on Christ’s strength instead of our own. His grace empowers us to walk in freedom, knowing that we are fully loved, fully forgiven, and fully His.
If you’ve been trying to do this on your own, you don’t have to anymore. Let go of striving and step into the life Christ is living through you. You are not who you used to be—He is making you new.
Are you still holding onto your old identity, or are you embracing the new life Christ has given you? How can you walk by faith instead of striving in your own strength?
Jesus, I thank You that I have been crucified with You and that my old life no longer defines me. Help me to truly live by faith, trusting in You rather than relying on my own strength. Fill me with Your Spirit, and let my life reflect Your grace and love. In Your name, Amen.
