"Search me, God, and know my heart; put me to the test and know my anxious thoughts." – (Psalm 139:23)

ree

Our verse today is a bold and vulnerable prayer. David doesn’t ask God to glance at his life from a distance—he invites God into the deepest places of his heart. He knows that true transformation begins with openness before God.

In recovery and spiritual growth, we often avoid confronting the deeper issues within us. It’s easier to stay distracted than to ask God to search us, test us, and reveal our anxieties and struggles. But healing begins when we allow God to expose what is hidden—our fears, pride, past wounds, and unhealthy attachments.

This isn’t about condemnation but about refinement. God already knows what is in our hearts, but when we ask Him to search us, we invite His transforming power to work within us. He doesn’t expose us to shame us; He reveals areas of struggle so that we can surrender them to Him and experience His healing and freedom.

Are there areas of your heart that you have been afraid to bring before God? How can inviting Him to search you lead to deeper healing and growth?

Heavenly Father, search me and know my heart. Reveal anything within me that is not aligned with Your will. Show me my anxious thoughts, my hidden struggles, and my blind spots. Help me to surrender them to You and trust in Your refining work. Lead me in the way of everlasting life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

"The LORD is my shepherd, I will not be in need."

(Psalm 23:1)

ree

Do you trust that God is truly enough for you?

Psalm 23:1 is a powerful declaration of trust and contentment. David, once a shepherd himself, knew firsthand what it meant to care for sheep—guiding them, protecting them, and providing for their needs. In this verse, he acknowledges that God is the ultimate Shepherd, and because of that, he lacks nothing.

In recovery, we often wrestle with feelings of emptiness, fear, or the need for control. We chase after things to fill the void—relationships, success, or even harmful habits—only to find that they never truly satisfy. But this verse reminds us that when the Lord is our Shepherd, we have all that we need. God knows what is best for us, leads us to places of rest, and provides for our every need—spiritually, emotionally, and physically.

When we fully trust the Shepherd, we stop striving for things that don’t satisfy and start resting in His care. He is our provider, protector, and guide. No matter where we are in life, we can find peace knowing that we are never alone—our Shepherd is always with us.

Are you living as though the Lord is enough for you, or are you still searching for fulfillment elsewhere? How can you surrender more fully to His care?

Jesus, You are my Shepherd, and in You, I lack nothing. Help me to trust in Your provision and to rest in Your care. When I am tempted to seek fulfillment elsewhere, remind me that You alone satisfy. Lead me on the path of righteousness and provide for all my needs. In Your name I pray, Amen.

"He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power."

(Hebrews 1:3)

ree

When we look at Jesus, we see the fullness of God revealed. He is not just a messenger or a great teacher—He is the radiance of God’s glory, shining forth the very essence of who God is. In Him, we see God’s love, grace, justice, holiness, and power made visible.

This verse also reminds us of Christ’s supreme authority. He not only created the universe but upholds all things by the power of His word. This means that your life with all of its struggles are not beyond His care. He is able to hold you together just as He holds the entire universe in place.

When we feel weak, lost, or overwhelmed, we can rest in the truth that Jesus is the exact representation of God the Father. If we want to know what God is like, we look to Jesus. If we want to know how deeply we are loved, we look to Jesus. If we need strength to move forward, we rely on the power of His word, which sustains us in all things.

How does knowing that Jesus upholds all things bring you peace? In what areas of your life do you need to trust in His sustaining power?

Jesus, You are the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of His nature. Thank You for revealing the Father to us and for holding all things together, including my life. Help me to trust in Your sustaining power, knowing that You are in control. Strengthen my faith as I look to You each day. In Your holy name, Amen.
