"The LORD is my shepherd, I will not be in need."
(Psalm 23:1)

Do you trust that God is truly enough for you?
Psalm 23:1 is a powerful declaration of trust and contentment. David, once a shepherd himself, knew firsthand what it meant to care for sheep—guiding them, protecting them, and providing for their needs. In this verse, he acknowledges that God is the ultimate Shepherd, and because of that, he lacks nothing.
In recovery, we often wrestle with feelings of emptiness, fear, or the need for control. We chase after things to fill the void—relationships, success, or even harmful habits—only to find that they never truly satisfy. But this verse reminds us that when the Lord is our Shepherd, we have all that we need. God knows what is best for us, leads us to places of rest, and provides for our every need—spiritually, emotionally, and physically.
When we fully trust the Shepherd, we stop striving for things that don’t satisfy and start resting in His care. He is our provider, protector, and guide. No matter where we are in life, we can find peace knowing that we are never alone—our Shepherd is always with us.
Are you living as though the Lord is enough for you, or are you still searching for fulfillment elsewhere? How can you surrender more fully to His care?
Jesus, You are my Shepherd, and in You, I lack nothing. Help me to trust in Your provision and to rest in Your care. When I am tempted to seek fulfillment elsewhere, remind me that You alone satisfy. Lead me on the path of righteousness and provide for all my needs. In Your name I pray, Amen.
