" After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.”

 (1 Peter 5:10)

Suffering is a universal experience, but it can feel isolating and endless while we’re in the midst of it. Peter reminds us, however, that suffering is temporary and purposeful. God, in His grace, uses even our hardest seasons to refine and restore us. He does not leave us in our pain but promises to perfect, confirm, strengthen, and establish us in His eternal glory.

This truth should give us immense hope. The struggles we face—the setbacks, the temptations, and the hard work of healing—are not wasted. God is actively working in and through our pain to mold us into the image of Christ. Each trial becomes an opportunity for growth as He strengthens our faith and builds a firm foundation for the future.

Take comfort in knowing that the God of grace is with you in every moment. Your suffering will not last forever, and it is not without purpose. As you continue to trust Him, He will restore and establish you, preparing you for a life filled with His eternal glory. Remember, this too shall pass.

What trials or struggles have caused you to rely on God more deeply? How have you seen Him begin to restore and strengthen you through those challenges?

God of all grace, thank You for the promise that my suffering is not the end of the story. Help me to trust in Your purpose and timing, even when the road feels hard. Thank You for the hope of Your eternal glory. In the precious name of Jesus I pray, Amen.

"All things are permitted for me, but not all things are of benefit. All things are permitted for me, but I will not be mastered by anything.”

 (1 Corinthians 6:12)

Freedom in Christ is a beautiful gift, but it comes with a call to discernment. Paul’s words in today’s verse remind us that while we may have freedom, not everything is good for us. True freedom is not about indulging in every desire but about living a life that honors God and promotes growth, health, and holiness.

Many things may seem harmless, but they can quickly become controlling forces in our lives. Addiction, harmful habits, and even seemingly innocent distractions can master us if we’re not vigilant. Paul challenges us to ask not just, “Can I do this?” but, “Should I do this? Will it bring me closer to God or pull me away?”

Therefore, we should exercise our freedom wisely, recognizing that our choices have consequences. God’s Spirit empowers us to choose what is beneficial, to set healthy boundaries, and to walk in the true freedom that comes by surrendering to His will.

What habits or behaviors might be permissible but are not beneficial to your recovery? Are there areas in your life where something is mastering you instead of Christ?

Lord, thank You for the freedom You have given me in Christ. Help me to use that freedom wisely, choosing what is beneficial that you can be glorified in all I do. Guide me to walk in true freedom as I grow closer to You each day. In your precious name I pray. Amen.

This world offers a multitude of distractions and temptations that pull us away from God’s purpose. John identifies three powerful forces that often trip us up: the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. These desires promise fulfillment, but they ultimately leave us empty, enslaved, and distant from the One who truly satisfies us, Jesus Christ.

The lust of the flesh tempts us to seek comfort and pleasure apart from God. The lust of the eyes entices us with materialism and envy, leading us to chase after things we think will bring happiness. The pride of life convinces us to depend on ourselves rather than God, glorifying our accomplishments while ignoring His grace.

All of us need to display vigilance against these temptations. When we recognize their pull, we must remember that they are not from our loving Father. Instead, He offers us something infinitely better: the fullness of life in Christ. By walking in the Spirit and immersing ourselves in God’s Word, we can overcome these worldly desires and remain rooted in His truth.

Which of these three temptations—lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes, or pride of life—do you struggle with the most? How can you redirect those desires toward God?

Father, thank You for revealing the truth about the world’s empty promises. Help me to find my fulfillment and worth in You alone. Strengthen me to resist temptation and to walk in the Spirit, trusting in Your grace every step of the way. Amen.
