"God blessed them; and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

(Genesis 1:28)

From the very beginning, God gave humanity purpose. He blessed Adam and Eve and entrusted them with the responsibility to care for His creation, to multiply, and to bring order. This divine calling is not limited to the first humans; it extends to all of us. Even in recovery, God calls us to live with purpose, reflecting His creativity, care, and love in the world around us.

Recovery is not just about breaking free from what holds us back; it’s about stepping into the life God intended for us. It’s a life of fruitfulness, where we bear the fruits of the Spirit in our actions and relationships. It’s a life of stewardship, where we use our time, talents, and resources to serve others and glorify God. And it’s a life of intentionality, where we actively choose to live in alignment with His will.

God’s blessing and purpose give us hope that our recovery is not in vain. He desires to use our story—our struggles, healing, and growth—to multiply His love and grace in the world.

In what ways can you be fruitful in your recovery? How can you use your experiences to bless and encourage others while fulfilling God’s purpose for your life?

Father, thank You for blessing me with purpose and calling me to live a life that reflects Your love and care. Help me to be fruitful, to grow in Your Spirit, and to use my experiences to glorify You. Teach me to steward my life well and to bring light and hope to those around me. In Your name I pray. Amen.

"As it is written: 'There is no righteous person, not even one.’”

(Romans 3:10)

Honesty is central to our emotional and spiritual well being —honesty with ourselves, with others, and most importantly, with God. Romans 3:10 reminds us of a foundational truth: none of us are righteous on our own. This verse confronts the pride and self-reliance that often keep us from seeking help. It strips away any illusion of self-sufficiency and points us toward our ultimate need for God’s grace found in Jesus Christ.

In the journey of life, this truth can be both humbling and freeing. It’s humbling because it acknowledges our brokenness and inability to save ourselves. But it’s also freeing because it reminds us that we don’t have to rely on our strength. God’s grace meets us in our unrighteousness, offering forgiveness and the power to live transformed lives.

When we admit our need, we open the door for God to work in and through us. We no longer have to carry the burden of pretending we have it all together. Instead, we can rest in the knowledge that His grace is sufficient, even in our weakest moments.

What areas of your life are you still trying to fix on your own? How can admitting your need for God’s grace bring freedom to your recovery journey?

Gracious God, thank You for reminding me that I cannot achieve righteousness on my own. I confess my need for Your grace and ask for Your strength to walk in the freedom You offer through Christ alone. Help me to rely on You. In Your name I pray. Amen.
