"As it is written: 'There is no righteous person, not even one.’”
(Romans 3:10)

Honesty is central to our recovery —honesty with ourselves, with others, and most importantly, with God. Romans 3:10 reminds us of a foundational truth: none of us are righteous on our own. This verse confronts the pride and self-reliance that often keep us from seeking help. It strips away any illusion of self-sufficiency and points us toward our ultimate need for God’s grace.
In our journey, this truth can be both humbling and freeing. It’s humbling because it acknowledges our brokenness and inability to save ourselves. But it’s also freeing because it reminds us that we don’t have to rely on our strength. God’s grace meets us in our unrighteousness, offering forgiveness and the power to live transformed lives.
When we admit our need, we open the door for God to work in and through us. We no longer have to carry the burden of pretending we have it all together. Instead, we can rest in the knowledge that His grace is sufficient, even in our weakest moments.
What areas of your life are you still trying to fix on your own? How can admitting your need for God’s grace bring freedom to your recovery journey?
Gracious God, thank You for reminding me that I cannot achieve righteousness on my own. I confess my need for Your grace and ask for Your strength to walk in the freedom You offer. Help me to rely on You. Amen.
