"And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death: death on a cross."

(Philippians 2:8

Humility is one of the most difficult virtues to embrace, and yet, it lies at the very heart of the gospel. Today's verse reminds us that Jesus, though fully divine, chose to humble Himself. He took on human form, walked among us, and submitted Himself in obedience to the most brutal form of execution known in His time: the cross.

Humility is not weakness; it is strength rooted in surrender.

This was not weakness; rather, it was power restrained. Jesus didn’t have to endure suffering, but He did so willingly. His humility wasn’t just a moment in time; it was a way of life. From the manger to the cross, Jesus modeled what it means to lay down one’s life for those He desires.

This kind of humility speaks directly to our journey with Christ and the struggles that reside within that journey. Many of us come from places of pride, control, and self-reliance. Yet the path to freedom starts with surrender. Just as Jesus humbled Himself in obedience, we too are called to do the same, submitting our will to God and trusting Him with every step.

Christ’s obedience brought our redemption. His humiliation brought our healing. And now, we are invited to walk that same road, not to earn salvation, but to reflect on the One who saved us. Humility is not weakness; it is strength rooted in surrender.

Where in your life is God calling you to humble yourself? What does obedience look like for you today?

Jesus, thank You for humbling Yourself to the point of death; death on a cross for me. Help me to walk in that same humility today. Teach me to surrender my will, trust in Your ways, and follow You with obedience and love. In Your name I pray, Amen.

“Taste and see that the LORD is good; How blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him.”

(Psalm 34:8)

ree

Some things must be experienced to be understood. You can describe the taste of honey, but until someone tastes it for themselves, they’ll never fully know its sweetness. Today’s verse invites us into such an experience with God: Taste and see that the Lord is good.

This isn’t a passive observation. It’s a personal invitation. It means drawing near to God, not just knowing about Him, but knowing Him. It means taking His promises seriously, trusting His Word, and stepping into a relationship that transforms.

Taking refuge in Him brings blessing, not just because our circumstances change, but because we discover His presence in the middle of them.

Many of us have tried to fill our lives with other “flavors”; addictions, distractions, and temporary pleasures. They promised satisfaction but left us empty. But God offers something better. He invites us to taste His grace, see His faithfulness, and experience the refuge only He can provide.

David knew this firsthand. He wrote these words after being delivered from danger and distress. His joy wasn’t theoretical, it was real. And so is ours when we turn to the Lord. Taking refuge in Him brings blessing, not just because our circumstances change, but because we discover His presence in the middle of them.

You may not have all the answers. You may still have wounds to heal. But the invitation remains: Taste and see. God is not asking you to figure it all out, however, He is asking you to come close, to trust, and to receive what only He can give.

Have you truly tasted the goodness of God? What’s keeping you from taking refuge in Him today?

Father in heaven, I want to experience Your goodness in a deeper way. Help me to trust You more, to come close, and to find refuge in Your presence. Thank You for faithfulness and kindness. Satisfy my soul with Your love today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

"And He who sent Me is with Me; He has not left Me alone, for I always do the things that are pleasing to Him.”

(John 8:29)

ree

In a world full of isolation, rejection, and uncertainty, Jesus offers a profound statement of confidence: “He has not left Me alone.” These words, spoken by Christ Himself, offer more than just comfort; they offer truth for anyone who feels forgotten or abandoned. Jesus lived in perfect fellowship with God the Father, and that presence never wavered because He walked in obedience and trust.

He modeled a life of intimate connection with the Father. His assurance wasn’t grounded in His circumstances, but in His relationship. He pleased the Father not out of duty, but from deep love and unity. And through Him, we are invited into that same relationship, one where we are never truly alone.

For those who are struggling in addiction or other life circumstances, this verse carries deep meaning. There are seasons where shame from our past or pain in our present makes us feel distant from God. But Jesus shows us the way back: walk with the Father, seek to please Him, and trust that He is near. God’s presence is not reserved for the perfect, it’s offered to the surrendered.

Jesus, who was fully God and fully man, walked the earth with continual awareness of the Father's nearness. In Him, we can do the same. As we grow in faith and obedience, we discover that God has not left us; not in our addiction, not in our failure, and not in our loneliness. He is present, active, and faithful.

Do you believe God is with you right now? What would it look like to walk in a way that pleases Him today?

Father, thank You for never leaving me alone. Even in my darkest moments, You have been near. Help me walk in obedience, trusting that Your presence surrounds me. May I live today in a way that brings You pleasure. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
