“Taste and see that the LORD is good; How blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him.”
(Psalm 34:8)

Some things must be experienced to be understood. You can describe the taste of honey, but until someone tastes it for themselves, they’ll never fully know its sweetness. Today’s verse invites us into such an experience with God: Taste and see that the Lord is good.
This isn’t a passive observation. It’s a personal invitation. It means drawing near to God, not just knowing about Him, but knowing Him. It means taking His promises seriously, trusting His Word, and stepping into a relationship that transforms.
Taking refuge in Him brings blessing, not just because our circumstances change, but because we discover His presence in the middle of them.
Many of us have tried to fill our lives with other “flavors”; addictions, distractions, and temporary pleasures. They promised satisfaction but left us empty. But God offers something better. He invites us to taste His grace, see His faithfulness, and experience the refuge only He can provide.
David knew this firsthand. He wrote these words after being delivered from danger and distress. His joy wasn’t theoretical, it was real. And so is ours when we turn to the Lord. Taking refuge in Him brings blessing, not just because our circumstances change, but because we discover His presence in the middle of them.
You may not have all the answers. You may still have wounds to heal. But the invitation remains: Taste and see. God is not asking you to figure it all out, however, He is asking you to come close, to trust, and to receive what only He can give.
Have you truly tasted the goodness of God? What’s keeping you from taking refuge in Him today?
Father in heaven, I want to experience Your goodness in a deeper way. Help me to trust You more, to come close, and to find refuge in Your presence. Thank You for faithfulness and kindness. Satisfy my soul with Your love today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
