"Now, Israel, listen to the statutes and the judgements which I am teaching you to perform, so that you will live and go in and take possession of the land which the LORD, the God of your fathers, is giving you.

(Deuteronomy 4:1)

God’s people were on the edge of promise. After years of wandering in the wilderness, they stood before the land He had prepared for them. But before entering, Moses reminded them of something crucial: listen and obey. The life they were meant to live, the one filled with blessing, purpose, and promise, depended on their willingness to hear and follow God's Word.

We live in a world filled with competing voices. Culture, past experiences, and even our own fears can drown out God’s voice. Yet, like Israel, we’re called to listen, not just with our ears but with our hearts. God’s Word isn’t meant to restrict us but to lead us into life. His commands are not burdensome; they are life-giving. When we obey, we walk in freedom and favor.

"His instruction isn't a barrier to joy

but the pathway to it."

This verse is especially powerful for those who have struggled with addiction and other life ailments. Every step forward begins with a decision to listen. This means to listen to God’s Word, to His Spirit, and to the wisdom of those He places in our lives. His instruction isn't a barrier to joy but the pathway to it. As we follow His lead, we begin to possess the promises He has for us: peace, purpose, healing, wholeness, and forgiveness.

What voices have you been listening to lately? Are they leading you toward God’s promises or away from them?

Lord, help me to listen and to truly hear Your Word and respond with obedience. I know that in Your commands, there is life and blessing. Teach me to follow You wholeheartedly so I may walk in the promises You’ve prepared for me. In Your precious name, Amen.

"He predestined us to adoption as sons and daughters through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, with which He favored us in the Beloved."

 (Ephesians 1:5-6)

ree

Have you ever wondered if you truly belong? If you’ve been accepted, not for what you do, but for who you are? Today’s passage of Scripture declares a truth that shatters doubt and silence shame: You are chosen by God and adopted into His family through Jesus Christ.

This isn’t a reluctant acceptance. It was God’s will and delight to draw you close to Him. He didn't wait until you were "good enough." In fact, He loved you in your brokenness and sin and, through Christ, He made a way for you to become His own. He chose to adopt you, not out of obligation, but out of deep, personal love.

This is a gift of grace, a beautiful favor extended to us in the Beloved, Jesus Christ. In Him, we are not just forgiven; we are welcomed, cherished, and given a new identity. No longer orphans, outcasts, or slaves to addiction or shame, we are sons and daughters of the King.

For those of us walking the road of recovery, this is life changing. The world may label us by our past, but God calls us His children. You are who you once were were; you are who He declares you to be. And what does He say you are? He says you are loved, favored, and accepted.

How does knowing you’ve been adopted by God through Christ affect the way you view yourself? What would it look like to live from that place of favor today?

Father, thank You for choosing and adopting me through Jesus. I’m overwhelmed by Your grace. Please help me to walk in the confidence of my identity that is in You. May I live to the praise of Your glorious grace each day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life."

(John 3:16)

ree

John 3:16 is one of the first verses we memorize and the most quoted verses in Christian circles. However, its familiarity can sometimes dull us to its depth. In a single sentence, we find the entire gospel; God’s motive, His method, and His mission. He loved. He gave. He saves.

The world Jesus speaks of isn’t a perfect place; it’s a broken, rebellious, and sin stained. And yet, God’s love remains unwavering. He didn’t offer a temporary fix or a distant kind of help. He gave what was most precious to Him: His only Son. This sacrificial love reveals the heart of the Father; one who would rather die for us than live without us.

For those who have struggled or are struggling with addictions this verse is a true lifeline. We know what it means to feel unworthy, unloved, or forgotten. But here, Jesus reminds us that God sees us, knows us, and loves us still. This is not love that waits for us to clean up first; it meets us in our mess and calls us into life. Eternal life. A life that begins now, in relationship with Christ, and continues forever.

Belief is the key. Not just mental agreement, but trusting, surrendering, and walking with Him. If you’ve ever wondered if you’re loved or if you matter, let this verse settle it for you: you do! God proved it at the cross.

Have you received the love of God through Jesus Christ? How does this truth shape the way you live today?

Heavenly Father, thank You for loving me so deeply that You gave Your Son for me. Help me to never take Your grace for granted. I believe in You, and I receive the eternal life You offer. Teach me to live in the joy and freedom of Your love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
