"Now, Israel, listen to the statutes and the judgements which I am teaching you to perform, so that you will live and go in and take possession of the land which the LORD, the God of your fathers, is giving you.
(Deuteronomy 4:1)

God’s people were on the edge of promise. After years of wandering in the wilderness, they stood before the land He had prepared for them. But before entering, Moses reminded them of something crucial: listen and obey. The life they were meant to live, the one filled with blessing, purpose, and promise, depended on their willingness to hear and follow God's Word.
We live in a world filled with competing voices. Culture, past experiences, and even our own fears can drown out God’s voice. Yet, like Israel, we’re called to listen, not just with our ears but with our hearts. God’s Word isn’t meant to restrict us but to lead us into life. His commands are not burdensome; they are life-giving. When we obey, we walk in freedom and favor.
"His instruction isn't a barrier to joy
but the pathway to it."
This verse is especially powerful for those who have struggled with addiction and other life ailments. Every step forward begins with a decision to listen. This means to listen to God’s Word, to His Spirit, and to the wisdom of those He places in our lives. His instruction isn't a barrier to joy but the pathway to it. As we follow His lead, we begin to possess the promises He has for us: peace, purpose, healing, wholeness, and forgiveness.
What voices have you been listening to lately? Are they leading you toward God’s promises or away from them?
Lord, help me to listen and to truly hear Your Word and respond with obedience. I know that in Your commands, there is life and blessing. Teach me to follow You wholeheartedly so I may walk in the promises You’ve prepared for me. In Your precious name, Amen.
