“No temptation has overtaken you except something common to mankind; and God is faithful, so He will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.”

 (1 Corinthians 10:13)

Temptation is a universal struggle—every person faces it in some form. It often lurks at the edges of our journey, enticing us to return to old habits and destructive patterns. But Paul offers a profound encouragement: temptation is not unique, and God’s faithfulness provides us with the strength to endure it.

Within this verse we see two key truths. First, we are not alone in our struggles. Others have faced similar temptations and found victory through God’s strength. Second, God always provides a way out. His grace empowers us to resist, and His Spirit reveals paths to escape, whether it’s turning to Scripture, reaching out to a trusted friend, or praying for His strength in the moment.

Overcoming temptation doesn’t mean relying on willpower alone. It means trusting in God’s faithfulness and His provision. He will guide you to the freedom and victory found in Him.

What temptations have been challenging you recently? How can you rely on God’s promises and seek the way of escape He provides?

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your promise to provide a way of escape from every temptation I face. Strengthen me to endure and trust in Your power rather than my own. Thank You for being with me in every struggle and for Your faithfulness that never fails. In the name of your precious Son, Jesus Christ my Lord. Amen.

"Do not speak in the hearing of a fool, for he will despise the wisdom of your words.”

(Proverbs 23:9)

Today’s verse offers a sobering reminder about the power of discernment in our conversations. There are times when sharing wisdom or advice, no matter how truthful or heartfelt, may fall on unwilling ears. Speaking to someone who is not ready to listen can lead to frustration for you and further resistance from them.

In recovery, this principle can be vital. While sharing experiences and encouragement is important, not everyone will be open to receiving wisdom at the moment. Trying to force understanding or advice on someone who isn’t ready can damage relationships or hinder progress.

This verse is not a call to withhold truth but to approach conversations with prayerful discernment and humility. Trust that God knows the timing and the condition of every heart. He can open ears and soften hearts when the time is right.

Are there situations where your words have been met with resistance? How can you seek God’s guidance to know when to speak and when to remain silent?

Lord, give me discernment to know when to speak and when to remain silent. Help me to trust Your timing and to approach conversations with wisdom and grace. Teach me to rely on Your Spirit to guide my words and to let go of control, knowing that You are working in every heart. Thank you, Jesus. Amen.

"Brethren, even if anyone is caught in any trespass, you who are spiritual, restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness; each one looking to yourself, so that you too will not be tempted.”

(Galatians 6:1)

All of us are surrounded by people who are walking their own journeys, complete with struggles and setbacks. Today’s verse reminds us of our responsibility to respond with gentleness when others falter. Rather than judging or condemning, we are called to help restore them with love and humility.

Restoration is not about fixing someone or pretending their wrongdoing doesn’t matter. It’s about guiding them back to the truth in a way that reflects Christ’s grace and mercy. This requires a spirit of gentleness—an attitude rooted in understanding and compassion rather than harshness or pride.

We are also to be mindful of our own vulnerabilities. When we help others, we must stay grounded in God’s Word and Spirit, remembering that we too are susceptible to temptation. Restoration is a shared journey, reminding us that we all need God’s grace to stay on the path of righteousness.

How can you restore others with gentleness and humility? Are there times when pride or judgment has kept you from responding with Christ-like compassion?

Lord, thank You for Your grace that restores me when I stumble. Help me to reflect that grace as I seek to gently restore others who are struggling. Teach me to walk alongside others in a way that honors You. Amen.
