Restoring in Love

January 22

"Brethren, even if anyone is caught in any trespass, you who are spiritual, restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness; each one looking to yourself, so that you too will not be tempted.”

(Galatians 6:1)

All of us are surrounded by people who are walking their own journeys, complete with struggles and setbacks. Today’s verse reminds us of our responsibility to respond with gentleness when others falter. Rather than judging or condemning, we are called to help restore them with love and humility.

Restoration is not about fixing someone or pretending their wrongdoing doesn’t matter. It’s about guiding them back to the truth in a way that reflects Christ’s grace and mercy. This requires a spirit of gentleness—an attitude rooted in understanding and compassion rather than harshness or pride.

We are also to be mindful of our own vulnerabilities. When we help others, we must stay grounded in God’s Word and Spirit, remembering that we too are susceptible to temptation. Restoration is a shared journey, reminding us that we all need God’s grace to stay on the path of righteousness.

How can you restore others with gentleness and humility? Are there times when pride or judgment has kept you from responding with Christ-like compassion?

Lord, thank You for Your grace that restores me when I stumble. Help me to reflect that grace as I seek to gently restore others who are struggling. Teach me to walk alongside others in a way that honors You. Amen.
