"Submit therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you."

(James 4:7)

Today's verse holds powerful implications for our daily walk with Christ. It with a call to submit to God, an act of surrender that requires humility, trust, and obedience. This means we are to align our will with His, placing our lives under His authority, and acknowledging that His way is always better.

Submission isn’t weakness; it’s wisdom. It’s recognizing that God is not just a part of our lives; He is Lord over all of it. When we submit to Him, we step under the protection of His leadership and the strength of His presence. We stop fighting for control and start walking in faith.

But submission is only half the call. James goes on to say, Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” We are given a daily choice to stand against temptation, to reject lies, and to refuse to return to the patterns that once enslaved us. The devil’s power is real, but it is not greater than the power of God working in those who believe.

For those of us who are battling temptation or sin in our lives, this verse is especially empowering. The battle may feel overwhelming, but you are not powerless. You are not alone. When you submit to God and resist the enemy, Scripture promises that the enemy will flee. Not might. Not eventually. He WILL flee.

Are you submitting every area of your life to God? Are you actively resisting the enemy’s influence?

Father, I choose today to submit my heart, my will, and my life to You. Give me strength to resist temptation and courage to stand firm. Thank You for Your power and for the promise that the enemy must flee when I walk in Your truth. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
