But He knew their thoughts and said to them, “Every kingdom divided against itself is laid waste; and a house divided against itself falls.”
( Luke 11:17)

Jesus spoke these words in response to accusations that He was casting out demons by the power of Satan. His answer wasn’t just logical—it was spiritually profound. A divided kingdom, He said, cannot stand. The same is true for a divided heart, home, or fellowship.
Division is one of the enemy’s greatest tools. Whether it’s internal conflict, brokenness in relationships, or discord within the Church, division saps strength, blurs focus and opens the door to spiritual ruin. Jesus’ words remind us that unity isn’t optional, but rather, it’s essential.
For those of us who have struggled or are struggling, this truth is especially meaningful. We’ve lived in a kind of division where mind and spirit has been torn between old habits and new desires, between flesh and faith. Healing begins when we invite Jesus into every part of our lives, bringing our divided self into submission to His lordship. Unity with God leads to restoration.
"division saps strength, blurs focus and opens the door to spiritual ruin."
The same applies to our relationships. Our lives were never meant to be a solo journey. We need others and they need us. When our families, friendships, or fellowships are fractured, we are vulnerable. But when we pursue peace, reconciliation, and forgiveness, we begin to rebuild what was torn down. A unified heart is a strong heart. A unified community is a powerful witness.
Are there areas in your life where division still lingers? What steps can you take to pursue unity with God, yourself, and others?
Jesus, reveal the places in my life where division has taken root. Unite my heart with Yours and help me pursue peace in my relationships. Help me to walk in wholeness and be a peacemaker in a world that so often falls apart. In Your name, Amen.
